What’s my birth time?

“What’s my birth time?” I know the question is weird, but it has a lot of thoughts behind it that thrives to gain knowledge about the different aspects of our culture.

Recently I came across many scenarios, which were related to the involvement of Kundali. Those who stay at India, may have come across this term at least once in their life’s and those who don’t know, “A Kundli is an astrological chart or diagram representing the positions different planets at the time of a person’s birth and based on the positions of the planets interpretations are done about the person’s future.”

Kundali plays a very vital role in the marriage of an Individual; approx. 60% of the people are married to their partner only when their Kundali matches. Some couples go against their family and marry their partner without matching Kundali, and if anything unfortunate happens, then mostly the girl is blamed for having a Mangal dosh, or some other dosh.

I am not writing this article to protest or support the Kundali factor, but I am trying to show how important it has become for all of us to seek the correct knowledge.

As mentioned, Kundali is prepared based on the position of different planets at the time of a person’s birth, but in today’s world how can we get the exact time of a person’s birth when we don’t even have trust on this? What if the doctors watch went dead, or if he has a habit of setting it before time. Also in a situation when a lady is in labor and pain, is it possible for someone to figure out the right time of birth?

Recently I came to know about a baby that was born on say 23rd night around 2:00 am, when her parents went to make her Kundali, the pandit said that since the stars had not gone away, i.e. a new day has not started, she should be considered to be born on 22nd instead of 23rd, but as per the hospital process she was listed to be born on 23rd.

So, let’s consider that she was born on 22nd as per what the pandit said, then what should be her birth time, how it can be 2:00 am? Because according to the pandit, the day starts at 04:00 am, so shouldn’t we consider that as 12:00 am while calculating the childbirth time? According to that, her birth time should be 10:00 pm on 22nd.

We all know that the time in no county is same hence we have different time zones, so that way which time zone is correct to define the time of a person’s birth?

All these questions and situations made me realize somethings that are going wrong in today’s world, which is leading to bad consequences for our society and our upcoming generations and leading to misbelieves and superstitions.

In ancient time when astrology was written am/pm was not used as a measure of time nor computers were used to define the Kundali, instead pahar was used. Night and day were each allocated four pahars, or “watches”. The first pahar of the day (or din pahar) was timed to begin at sunrise, and the first pahar of the night (raat pahar) was timed to begin at sunset [Wiki]. A location also plays a very important role in astrology, but when astrology was written, the locations were not calculated based on the names as done now; instead, a different method was used. Also, the different planets are linked to a degree and the impact of them is different in each avastha (Avastha is the age of that planet in your life – Child, Young, Adult, Mature and Old [Link1, Link2]).

In the current society, there are very few Pandits who know the depth of astrology, and others take it as a business due to which a lot of superstitions are getting generated in our society. And it’s not only about marriage, it also impacts the business, the career education etc of a child, because some people do make their child study a particular subject only because his Kundali says he can do it better in that field in future.

Nowadays a lot of people get their child born at a time after discussing the best time with a Pandit. A lot of people with traditional values blame that girl for not waiting for a normal delivery and getting herself operated, but considering all the scenarios that the child has to face after his birth for his birth time, I think this is the best decision for a parent to take so that they can write their child’s future.

The weird thing about this is, if we can write a child future by getting him born at a time, then why we say God decides destiny and if God decides the destiny, then how can a child who was naturally born, be born in a wrong timing?

God’s timing is never wrong. It’s our fault that we are moving away from our roots and not trying to find the reasons of astrology and just believing in the incomplete knowledge shared by others.

So, if we are giving Kundali’s a lot of importance, then it’s really very important for all of us, to bring back the roots of astrology to light so that we are not spoiling anyone’s life due to incomplete knowledge.
